We spent the day at the Springfield Quadrangle. Today was a special event day celebrating kids' books, so there were several different storytelling performances, some with music. There was face painting, or in our case, arm painting. Ben asked for a robot cow, Josh got a robot T Rex with red arms. There were also tons of giveaways, like books and stickers and bags and toothbrushes, band aids and sunscreen, lots and lots of flyers. We attended an event at the library where Josh made a paper bag puppet of a dog (Biscuit is Curious George's sidekick, apparently). After Josh was done coloring his dog he made a cat for the dog to eat. Then he asked me what cats ate and made a third puppet, a bird. Then he acted out a whole puppet show where everyone got a meal. Except the bird.
My mom took us to Friendly's on the way home. The kids shared a strawberry ice cream with strawberry sauce. Josh, in true form, covered every inch of exposed skin in sticky red sweetness. My mom squirmed in her seat just looking at him. I was cracking up and blotted him as best I could. They REALLY enjoyed that sundae.
