On Tuesday morning Matt and I packed up, picked up a free museum pass at the library, promised our kids lots of fun, and drove to the Holyoke Children's Museum to find that it is "Closed on Mondays. Open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays." The locked doors spoke for Tuesdays.
We played at the small playground by the canal, and the kids rode the carousel in what I think is called Holyoke Heritage Park. It's a nice place, with a bench under nearly every tree. FYI, carousel tickets are half price on Tuesdays. Ben's horse was named "Riding the Range Desert."
So this morning we headed back to fulfill our promises. Ben's favorite part was the climbing structure. Josh's favorite part was the water table. My favorite part was the park, the lunch, the breeze. Matt's favorite part was the ramps you could construct and roll golf balls down, to demonstrate laws of physics. Eli's favorite part was my boobs.
We didn't head home until about 2:30, which is really late for Ben and Josh. They had a little nap. Right now they are at the playground, getting just tired enough that they won't bounce on the couch during our entire Family Movie Night. Just 80% of it.
We'll be watching the original Land Before Time. (There are umpteen of them, which we often check out of the library) This is a series of feature length animated movies about juvenile talking dinosaurs. The creators of these movies clearly crawled into the brain of a dinosaur obsessed little boy and recreated the images therein for the big screen.
