Belly Button

This morning Eli's umbilical cord fell off. The kids were psyched to see his belly button for the first time. It's cute.

Eli also took his first hike today. He was out on the town a bit yesterday (Amherst College Museum of Natural History and Groff Park for a picnic lunch), but this was his first long walk, first long trip in the sling. We went to the Notch, where we caught the very end of Ranger Rich's art project - finger paintings of mushrooms. Then we hiked the one mile trail, finding many many mushrooms, including some blue, red, orange, pink, purple, white, mottled, and yellow. Ben and Josh were very interested in picking them and looking at the various shapes.

After our walk we went to the Eric Carle Museum. We had lunch there, made an art project, played outside and climbed trees. Then who should show up but Winnie the Pooh, six feet tall. Josh was freaked out but Ben went right up to him for a hug.

Now all three of my boys are asleep, my eyes are drifting shut as well. Today is my mom's birthday so after naptime we'll celebrate that. Cake is the best way to end any day.
