On Friday we had a fairly mellow day, visiting Dufresne Playground in the morning with friends, then napping and having dinner at Zena's.
Matt's LAST DAY of work was Saturday. Now he is officially on paternity leave. We are all excited about it. I took the kids to a nature program at the Notch Visitor Center. The leader, Rich, reads a book to the kids, this time about Pill Bugs. Then we explore, looking under logs and bricks and rocks to find the bugs. The program finishes up with a craft activity. We made pill bugs out of cardboard, pipe cleaners, and googly eyes.
Ben is SO enthusiastic about everything that we do, he is a delight.
After the nature program we went to Groff Park, where the pool was STILL not open! Due to unspecified "mechanical problems." We had lunch and played there anyways. Luckily, we met a fun and friendly family. I chatted with the Dad, Ben played with the almost 5 year old daughter, and we all had a good time.
After Matt got home from work he walked with the kids in the jogger from Belchertown to Hadley, which is at LEAST 13 miles. The kids were totally stoked, saw a snake that slithered, and thought that it was a great adventure. I know that they are going to have such a wonderful month with Matt. I met them with the car in Hadley, where I had done some last minute shopping for bassinette sheets and some items for me at Marshall's - my favorite store and one where I am still using a gift certificate from Joe and Julie that I got for my birthday.
It was a great day.
