Today we paid a visit to the Boston Museum of Science. We have a membership to our local science museum which entitles us to reciprocal memberships at a number of others.
On the way there we stopped at a playground in Wellesley. Matt found it online by searching for Boston area playgrounds. It is the best I have ever seen. A sandbox was included, which is a magnet for Ben. He hardly did any climbing, but made a friend in the sandbox after about 10 seconds. He played with this other little boy making castles the whole time we were there. We had a nice picnic lunch in the shade near the climbing structures. Josh did not hesitate for the moment at the base of a ladder that ascended at least 30 feet. Nor at the top of a twisty slide that might even intimidate me (in present state at least).
The museum was a lot of fun, as usual. There is so much to see there that we haven't yet made it through the entire museum in one visit. It's an adventure that begins on the highway, spotting trucks and excavators, continues with the thrill of city overpasses, a parking garage with an elevator, stamps on the backs of our hands... all this before we've laid eyes on an exhibit!
The quote of the day from Ben unfortunately preceded a tantrum which heralded the end of our outing. Told by Dad that he could not climb atop the water play structure, even though he wasn't tall enough to reach it without climbing, Ben said, "Well, what can a boy do?" Besides wait and grow, not much - what a pickle. Just when you think childhood is so easy peasy you are reminded that it is actually quite difficult.
We headed home, had some downtime, played outside, and now the kids are fast asleep, as soon we will be. Good Night!
